Lyn Eng Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology in Harpenden

About Me #01

About Me

I have lived in Harpenden for 19 years. I worked in the NHS for nearly 22 years, 17 of these as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Before I began my NHS career in the UK, I trained and worked briefly in Australia before moving to Singapore where I was based for a couple of years.

I have always worked with individuals and groups which I enjoyed and have learned a great deal from. Within my NHS career I also set up and managed NHS Clinical and Counselling Psychology Services and developed innovative ways of working. These ranged from services in GP surgeries and Primary Care to Clinical Psychology services in-reaching into prison. I believed strongly in providing high quality psychological services to clients and their families. I provided supervision to Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Counsellors and other professionals including those in training.

Working within Mental Health services exposed me to clients with complex needs who would repeatedly re-present for more psychological input. This highlighted to me their needs for much more than just symptom-focused treatment. I then pursued intensive training and became a Jungian Analyst to develop my understanding of the psyche to enhance and deepen my work with clients.

I have always had an interest in the body and its intrinsic connection with the psyche. I am also trained in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and trauma-based approaches including Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
